Bloomfield's Queen of Soul Squelches Wedding Talk
Just weeks after announcing her engagement to longtime friend William "Willie" Wilkerson, Aretha Franklin now says she won't be getting married anytime soon.

According to the Detroit News, the "Queen of Soul" on Monday issued a statement through publicist Tracey Jordan that she and longtime friend Willie Wilkerson will not exchange nuptials this summer in the Hamptons, as suggested, or anywhere else for that matter.

"Regretfully, to Our Friends and Supporters: Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly," the News reported the statement saying. "There will be no wedding at this time."
Both Franklin and Wilkerson thanked well wishers in their statement but indicated they would decline any further comment because of the "very personal and sensitive nature of it," the News reported.
