Alexander turned himself in earlier this month, exactly two months after 25-year-old Joshua Green of West Bloomfield was hit on Griswold Street in downtown Northville.

On Dec. 3, at about 1 a.m. Green was walking with his friends on Griswold Street toward a local bar. According to the police report, Green had been drinking and was arguing with a friend when he stepped into the street. An SUV hit Green and kept driving.

Four people witnessed the hit and run. One ran after the SUV, but reported that it didn't stop. Green, a 2004 graduate of Lahser High School, died as a result of the injuries a few days later.

According to the release, Alexander said he had been at a nearby bar with a friend, when the friend became ill due to overindulgence. He said he drove his friend home and was returning to Northville when his car was struck by
something on Griswold.

He told police he thought someone had thrown something at his vehicle and he did not want to stop.
