Fieger Takes on Mitt Romney for Bullying in Latest TV Ad

Metro Detroit viewers are no stranger to seeing Geoffrey Fieger promote his law firm through an array of commercials advocating for the 'underdog' on local airwaves.

But in his latest commercial, the Bloomfield Hills attorney takes on presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney for the alleged bullying incident while still a student in 1965.

The 30-second spot, which began running this week on morning local television and appeared on YouTube a few days ago, appears to be a commercial for his firm, Fieger Law, and promotes his website. There is no mention of a political affiliation or endorsement.

But the ad is clearly geared toward Romney though he said he didn't specifically remember it.

"Back in high school, I did some dumb things, and if anybody was hurt by that or offended, obviously I apologize for that," he told Fox News' Brian Kilmeade in May.

During the commercial, Fieger recounts his own similar experience of being bullied as a freshman at Detroit Country Day School. In his commercial, he goes as far as to call Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, a "sociopath, or a liar, or both" for not remembering the incident.

"Two adult sadists at Detroit Country Day held me down and shaved my head because they didn’t like long hair on boys," Fieger said of the incident, which occurred when he was 14. "The memory of that abuse is burned into my mind."

He then criticizes Romney for essentially doing the same thing as an 18-year-old.

"The other perpetrators have all confessed that the event has haunted them for years, but not our Mitt," he said while standing in front of what appears to be a backdrop of an American flag. "Anyone who claims that they don’t remember physically assaulting someone is either a sociopath or a liar, or both."

The Romney campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

It’s no secret where Fieger’s political allegiance lies. The former Democratic gubernatorial candidate was one of the at the Bingham Farms home of Birmingham businesswoman Denise Ilitch in April.
