5 Things You Should Know About This Week

Here's a snapshot of the government meetings and newsworthy events around the Bloomfield area.

1. The Bloomfield Township Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Township Hall. Among the items on the agenda are an amendment to the zoning ordinance relating to the Design Review Board regulations. The proposed change would designate 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month as the scheduled meeting time, unless otherwise designated by the supervisor with proper notice to the public. The commission will also review the site plan for renovations to Carl’s Golfland

2. Animals from the around the world will be featured at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. Participants will learn about animals and ecosystems from around the globe with the Wildlife Safari Co. in a hands-on animal adventure for ages 6 and older. Registration is required and available by calling 248-642-5800.

3. Bloomfield Hills Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 4 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. The board will discuss a request of the property owner at 680 Lone Pine Road for a zoning variance to construct a detached accessory building or garage in a front yard.

4. : The will host its eighth annual Vine & Dine wine and dinner event at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the . Tickets cost $65 per person.

5. Candidate interviews for the vacant Bloomfield Township Public Library trustee position will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the library boardroom. Interviews will be approximately one half hour each and are open to the public. For further information, visit the library website.
