Funeral Arrangements Finalized for Kenneth Jarrell

The Bloomfield Township man police believe shot and killed his ex-wife, Rochester teacher Susan Jarrell, will be laid to rest close to his family in Tennessee.

The man Bloomfield Township police say outside his home Tuesday night will be buried Saturday in a family cemetery in Tennessee.

Kenneth Jarrell, 46, will be remembered at a 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday in Chapel Hill, TN, according to a tribute posted on www.heartfeltconnections.net today. A private burial will follow at the Jarrell Family Cemetery.

Visitation and services were scheduled for 4-8 p.m. today at the Lawrence Funeral Home.

Officers responding to reports of multiple shots fired found Jarrell's body outside his residence in the 2200 block of Bedford Road at about 8 p.m. Tuesday. They also found the body of Susan Jarrell, his ex-wife, inside her vehicle parked in the driveway. Susan Jarrell, 45, at and in Rochester. She also had physical custody of their three school-age children and they lived in Bloomfield Hills.

The couple's divorce became official last May, but Oakland County Circuit Court records show each filed motions against the other to alter custody and parenting time over the past few months. for a contempt of court hearing regarding delinquent payments for legal fees and other violations of court orders. Records show he faced the potential of 10 days in the Oakland County Jail.

According to his obituary, Jarrell was a patent attorney who graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in engineering. He also received a  doctor of jurisprudence degree from Columbia University School of Law in Columbus, OH, and lived in Colorado before settling in Michigan.

He is survived by his children, four brothers and parents.

Susan Jarrell's funeral arrangements are being handled through A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home in Troy. A wake is scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a scripture service at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the , 2215 Opdyke Rd., Bloomfield Hills. Visitation at the church begins at 10 a.m.
