'Hardcore Pawn' Star Making Her Own Deals

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI - A Bloomfield Township woman had a successful nine-season run on the TV reality show “Hardcore Pawn” is making deals on her own website, which she describes as an online shopping destination for men and women.

Ashley Gold told Hometownlife.com that she left her family’s pawn shop, American Jewelry and Loan, where the popular truTV program is filmed, and is now the proprietor of pawnchickshopping.com.

“It’s true, I left the pawn shop,” Gold said in a phone interview with Hometownlife.com. “This is my thing now — I’m the pawn chick. I was born and raised in a pawn shop, I know how to buy jewelry and I know how to pair jewelry. Everyone has always seen the rough and tumble side of me, but now people will see a new side of me.”

Gold, a 1996 Andover High School graduate, graduated from the University of Michigan’s Eli Broad College of Business, is certified in diamonds from the Gemological Institute of America.

The online collection includes 300 pieces of jewelry from a dozen designers. Prices are as low as $20 and as high as $3,000. But she’s willing to make deals.

“People are afraid to ask for a deal, and you can’t ever be bashful about asking for a deal,” she said. “I’m always open to a little negotiating.”

Leaving the show gives her more time to spend with her husband and their two young children, she said.

It’s unclear if “Hardcore Pawn” will be renewed for another season. Over its five-year, nine-season run, more than 150 episodes featured the Gold family and their pawn shop became a tourist destination.
