Homeless Squatter Removed From Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety provided this information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety cited a homeless man for trespassing at a vacant home in the city last week. Police responded to the 1000 block of Dunston Road shortly after 5 p.m. on March 15 when a neighbor noticed a suspicious man at the home, reports said. The activity was unusual since the home was vacant for some time.

The officers located the man, who told them he was checking on the house while his parents were away in Minnesota, according to reports. Police tried to verify the man's statements and determined no one was supposed to be in the house.

They detained him and issued a citation for trespassing before they took him to a warming shelter in Pontiac, reports said. There was evidence of forced entry to the home, but officers determined that it was old. Nothing was reported stolen.
