Homeowners Gone Only Minutes Before Home Invasion

Bloomfield Township police investigate home invasions and catalytic converter thefts, locate runaway.

Bloomfield Township police say homeowners had been gone from their residence for about 45 minutes before a burglar triggered alarms in a home invasion.

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department was dispatched to the 4600 block of Private Lake Drive at 10:02 am. on Nov. 22. A burglary alarm was dispatched moments later. The fire department found evidence that entry had been forced into the residence, triggering both alarms.

The homeowners had left the residence about 9:15 a.m. and returned home while offices were investigating. Laptop computers were reported stolen.

In another home invasion, several pieces of jewelry were stolen on Nov. 20 in the 1200 block of Pembury Lane. The incident occurred sometime between 3-5:30 p.m. that day, police said.

Both cases have been turned over to the Bloomfield Township Police Department’s Investigations Division.

Catalytic Converter Thefts

On Nov. 19, a resident in the 400 block of N. Fox Hills reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire during the overnight hours. The vehicle was parked in the victim’s assigned carport.

On Nov. 21, police took a second report of a catalytic converter theft in the same area. The victim said his 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The incidents are believed to be related, and have been turned over to police department’s Investigaitons Division.

Runaway Update

Bloomfield Township police said a runaway reported missing Nov. 9 was located at a residence in the 19000 block of Fenelon in Detroit on Nov. 25. Lajoy Ross, a freshman at Bloomfield Hills HIgh School, reportedly cut off a GPS tether.
