Laptops Stolen From Office; Counterfeit Bill Passed at Starbucks

Bloomfield Township police are investigating the theft of multiple computers from an office that was burglarized over the weekend, reports said. Officers responded to an office suite within 36700 Woodward Ave. Monday morning after employees reported a burglary upon arriving for work. It appeared the office door was pried open, reports said.

The office was locked, but there was no alarm. The two laptop computers were valued at $1,300. No suspect information was available.

Counterfeit Bill

An alert employee at Starbucks Coffee stopped a woman that tried to pay for drinks with a counterfeit bill, police reports said. The woman passed a $100 bill to the employee to pay for two cups of coffee on Oct. 7, but the cashier refused to take it after noticing it looked suspicious. The woman then left without saying anything. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Attempted Break-in

The owner of the Subway in the Kingswood Square Shopping Center on the township's north side found pry marks on the rear door on Oct. 4, police reports said. Officers determined that no one entered the store and they are reviewing nearby surveillance videos for clues about possible suspects.

Larceny

Authorities reminded citizens not to leave valuables outdoors after a resident of the Whethersfield Apartments reported his 24-speed mountain bike was stolen from a carport earlier this week. The bicycle was locked up with two other bicycles on a metal support pole in the carport, but the perpetrator cut the lock.  Only one bicycle — a red, Giant brand valued at $350 — was stolen, reports said.

Unwanted Guest Arrested

A Detroit woman that was considered an unwanted guest was arrested on outstanding warrants last week at the Kingsley Radisson, police reports said.

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to the hotel at about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 and met with the manager, who reported an unauthorized guest was inside a guest room. The officers contacted the woman and learned she had two valid traffic-related warrants from Detroit and a third warrant from the Macomb County Friend of the Court. They arrested her without incident and turned her over to the Macomb County Sheriff's Department.
