On the Agenda: Citizens Honored, Township Considers Sewer Surcharge
Bloomfield Township trustees will also hear the police department's annual report and discuss a planning commission ordinance at 7 p.m. Monday.

The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees will honor a citizen and the township ’s Officer of the Year when it meets tonight in Township Hall.
The board will issue a proclamation honoring Edward Deeb for his many years of dedicated service to the business and nonprofit community in southeast Michigan.
Deeb was president and CEO of the Michigan Food and Beverage Association and the Michigan Business and Professional Association. His previous awards include the Michiganian of the Year award, the George Romney Award for Lifetime Achievement in Volunteerism and the Neal Shine Shining Light Award among many others, township documents show.

Police Chief Kirt Bowden will present the department’s annual awards, the highlight of which will be the announcement of the Officer of the Year award, which he would not reveal prior to the meeting. Bowden then will deliver the department’s annual report to the board.

- An industrial sewer surcharge, which would become effective July 1, to meet increases from the Detroit Water and Sewer Department. The proposed rate reflects a 14.5 percent increase on commercial accounts only. Public Works Director Tom Trice will lead a presentation.
- An ordinance that would formally establish a township Planning Commission that complies with the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act of 2006 and the Michigan Planning Enabling Act of 2008.
- Payroll approval and vouchers.
