Police Blotter: Home Invasion, Business Burglary and Larcenies Reported

Bloomfield Township Police investigated multiple property crimes in the past week, according to reports.

Breaking and entering

Officers responded to the 1600 block South Opdyke Road Tuesday morning for reports of burglary at a business, reports said. Police found a portion of the front door to the China Village was broken out and someone slipped inside. Cash was missing from the register. No supsect information was available and case remains under investigation.The theft occurred sometime between 9:40 p.m. the previous night and roughly 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, reports said.

A vacant home for sale was robbed of copper piping last week, police reports said. The homeowner went to the property in the 3900 Cottontail on Wednesday and called police after discovering a rear window was broken out. Whoever gained entry to the home went to the basement and removed copper pipes. No damage estimates or suspect information was available.

Larcenies

  • A GPS unit was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 600 block of South Cranbrook Road last weekend, police reports said. The theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight on Oct. 29.
  • Cash was removed from another unlocked car parked in the 2900 block of Berkshire Road, police said. The vehicle was parked in the street in front of a home. The theft occured sometime between Oct. 29 and Ot. 31.

Bloomfield Hills

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to the 100 block of Canterbury Road for a larceny of jewelry report on Oct. 27, reports said.

The homeowner called police at about 4 p.m., after noticing that her diamond wedding ring valued at more than $15,000 was missing. The ring was typically kept on the bedroom dresser, and was last seen there at 7:30 a.m. that day. However, it was gone when she looked for it later that afternoon. The homeowner reported being at the house all day and that only one other person was with her, reports said. The case remains under investigation.
