Alarm scares off intruder

Officers with the responded to a burglar alarm in the 400 block of Dunston Road at abut 4:30 p.m. last Sunday, according to reports. The first officer on the scene reported fresh tire and foot tracks in the new snow by the front driveway.

Reports said he followed the tracks to the back of hte home and found a broken window. Entry was gained and more tracks were found by an open backdoor. The resident was notified and reported nothing missing after returning home.

No suspect information was available.

"The alarm being set by the homeowner and activated by the suspect minimized the loss to the homeowner," Chief Richard Matott said.

Resident discovers fraudulent credit cards

A resident went to the at about 6:30 p.m. Monday with two credit cards that he received in the mail but did not request, a report said. One of the cards was unused, but the other had charges totaling more than $3,000 worth of merchandise from various stores on the state's west side. Both cards were cancelled and the investigation is underway, police said.

Home burglary reported

Residents of a home on East Valley Woods returned home on Tuesday to find their home burglarized, a police report said. The homeowners reported that they found damage to the front door of their home just west of Lahser Road and behind the Berkshire Middle School at about 11:15 a.m. No one was inside, but jewelry and electronic devices were stolen. The homeowners said they left at about 9:30 a.m. that morning.

Police canvassed the neighborhood and found one resident that reported hearing a loud bang that morning and an unfamiliar vehicle in the driveway, the report stated. The vehicle was there for between five and 10 minutes before it drove off eastbound on East Valley Woods. It was described as a red Chevy S-10 style pickup. No description of the driver was available.
