Another theft of lawncare equipment

Police are looking for an older model red pickup truck that could be tied to the recent theft of lawn equipment from outside a home on South Glengarry Road, reports said.

Officers responded to the 100 block of South Glengarry about 6 p.m. on Oct. 13, where a resident reported that a John Deere leaf shredder and wood chipper was taken from the front yard. The resident was working in the back yard at the time the theft occurred, reports said.

Witnesses said they saw the unfamiliar pickup in the area prior to the theft. It is unclear if this incident is tied to multiple thefts of commercial lawn equipment in the township and city since July.

Larceny from vehicle

Officers are also investigating a smash-and-grab theft from a vehicle parked outside the Detroit Skating Club, reports said.

Bloomfield Township Police were called to the club at about 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 for a theft that just occurred. Officers determined a man smashed out a front window and took a purse that had two iPods, jewelry, cash and credit cards, reports said. Someone tried using one the cards at an area store a short time later, but was stopped because the card was already cancelled. That person was not arrested, but the case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on any of the above incidents is encouraged to call the department’s investigations division at 248-433-7752.
