Police Blotter: Car Stolen After Burglar Finds Keys in Other Vehicle; More Auto Larcenies Reported

The following information was supplied by the Bloomfield Township Police Department and the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

 

Bloomfield Township

Bloomfield Township police said a thief or thieves that broke into one vehicle parked outside a home in the 1900 block of Fox River Drive helped themselves to another vehicle parked nearby after finding the spare key.

Officers were notified of the break-in to the unlocked vehicle by a resident early in the morning on April 8, according to reports. A wallet, sports equipment and a spare key to the other vehicle were taken.

Police believe the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta was taken sometime overnight between April 7 and April 8. No suspect descriptions were available and the investigation is ongoing.

Larceny from auto

  • , 2050 Telegraph Rd.: A purse was stolen from a 2002 Ford Explorer parked in the lot between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on April 5. A window on the vehicle was smashed out, accoridng to police reports. A credit card belonging to the victim was used shortly afterwards at a local gas station. The investigation is ongoing.
  • 1700 block of Fox River Dr.: A GPS unit was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home between April 6 and April 9.
  • 2800 block of Courville Dr.: A GPS and a digital camera were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home overnight between March 29-30, reports said. It was not immediately reported to police.

Fraud

Police are investigating a report of more than $10,000 worth of furniture purchased with a fraudulent credit card at . Police were notified of the sale at about 6:30 p.m. April 10 and further details were unavailable.

Malicious destruction of property

Police said a resident reported damage to their vehicle while parked in front of a residence in the 2600 block of South Bradway Street. Several scratches made with an unknown object were on the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 sometime overninght between April 5 and April 6, reports said.

Officials with the said there were no major fire or police related incidents last week.
