Police Blotter: Copper Thieves Damage Bloomfield Township Home
This information was supplied by the Bloomfield Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.
Copper thieves broke into a home off of Ward Road and caused damage to the property, which is currently for sale, police reports said.
Bloomfield Township police responded to the 1700 of Ward Road last week after a neighbor reported hearing a beeping noise coming from the unoccupied home. Officers inspected the property and found the glass to a side door shattered and the door was unlocked.
Inside they found a section of copper water piping was stolen, reports said. Water flooded several rooms and damaged the electrical panel, which then triggered the smoke detectors to active and beep. Police could not pinpoint when the theft occurred and there was no suspect information available. Damage estimates are pending.
