Police Blotter: Home Invasions Might be Linked; Kmart Cleaning Woman Arrested

Highlights from recent police reports:

Apartment Burglaries Likely Connected

are investigating possible ties between a string of residential burglaries that occurred within hours of each other last week, reports said.

Investigators believe six burglaries at condominium or apartment complexes during the evening hours of Jan. 13 could be tied to two men seen leaving the area in a white sedan after one incident. The first incident was reported at the Concord Place condominium complex near the intersection of Opdyke and Square Lake roads, and others were reported shortly after at the near Telegraph and Quarton roads, and The Glens of Bloomfield Apartments near the Telegraph and 14 Mile roads intersection.

No one was home in any of the incidents, which were believed to have occurred between 6:30-11 p.m. Each residence was on the first floor and sliding glass patio doors were pried open to gain entry, police reports said. Electronics and jewelry were taken.

The possible suspects were described as two men who were roughly 30 years old and seen in a white, four-door sedan. Further descriptions were unavailable.

Other Crimes Reported

  • A woman working for a cleaning company that services the was arrested Tuesday after she was allegedly caught stealing a DVD by store security, reports said. Investigators learned the woman was taking various items from the store for some time. She was booked and released pending a formal warrant for retail fraud.
  • Officers also investigated a home invasion reported in the 6400 block of Maple Hills Drive on Wednesday, reports said. The intruder forced open a front door sometime between 6:15 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and stole credit cards, jewelry and a camera. That incident does not appear to be related to the others.
  • A briefcase containing credit cards was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Alice Avenue sometime between Jan. 15-16, reports said. The vehicle was parked in the driveway. No suspect information was available.
