Lawn equipment targeted
Bloomfield Hills police are investigating similar leaf blower thefts from different locations in the city earlier this month.
Officers with the department of public safety responded to two calls of missing leaf blowers from landscaping crews working on the 1000 block of Country Club Drive and 100 block of Merrimac Court on Sept. 9, police reports said. The Red Max leaf blowers, valued at $1,400 combined, were taken from trailers between 1-2:15 p.m., reports said. The theft from Merrimac Court is believed to have happened between 1:50-2:15 p.m.
No suspect information is available, however, police are confident the crimes are related.

Officers responded to the Kingsley Radisson on Sept. 2 after a family reported cash and personal documents were taken from the safe in their room, police reports said.
The family was here on business from China and reportedly noticed $1,000 and the documents missing at about 9:50 p.m. that day. The theft is believed to have occurred between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2. No suspect information was available. No signs of forced entry were reported.
Officers were also called to the 300 block of Lone Pine Road by a security company for a possible break-in at about 3 a.m. on Sept. 3, reports said. The security guard told police they found the door to a small utility room in the building forced open. The room contained athletic equipment, which appeared to be intact. Nothing was reported missing.
A K-9 unit tracked the area for clues to a possible suspect, but none was found.
Anyone with information about any of the above incidents is encouraged to call the department at 248-644-4200.
