Police Blotter: Motorist Cited For Pot Possession After Crash; Man Passes Bad Check; Hubcaps Stolen

Woman with pot in her vehicle crashes after falling asleep at the wheel

A 39-year-old woman was arrested for operating while under influence of drugs after she ran her vehicle off of Lahser road early Saturday morning, police reports said.

Officers responded to the reported crash on Lahser just north of Long Lake Road  about 1 a.m. and found the driver with minor injuries to her face and hand.

The woman acknowledged falling asleep at the wheel and losing control of the Jeep. She was alone in the vehicle. An officer offered to get her purse from inside the vehicle to obtain her license and registration when he found a small baggie of suspected marijuana, reports said. They arrested the woman without incident  and transported her to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.

Officers then booked her at the Department of Public Safety for operating under the influence of drugs and for marijuana possession. She was released pending court dates.

Man tries to pass bogus check and flees, but not without a trace

Bloomfield Hills police said a man tried to pass a bad check at a local bank but left before officers arrived Saturday afternoon. The man entered the bank in the 39000 block of Woodward Avenue at about 12:40 p.m. and passed the suspicious check to a teller who warned that the check would be verified, reports said. The man quickly fled the building and was seen leaving in a gray Chevrolet Impala. Police said they identified the man from a fingerprint left on the check and are trying to locate him.

Hubcaps removed outside Bloomfield Hills home

Police are still investigating the theft of hubcaps from a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Stratford Lane last week, reports said.

The homeowner called police on June 15 and told officers that someone stole all four hubcaps from his car parked in the driveway. The hubcaps were collectively worth more than $200 . No suspect information was available.

Tennis ball tossed from school bus damages vehicle

A tennis ball reportedly thrown from a moving school bus damaged a passing vehicle last week, police reports said.

The motorist entered the police station at about 12:15 p.m. Friday and said that a small crack in his windshield was made worse by a ball thrown from a southbound bus on Lahser Road near Pineridge Drive. The man could not describe who threw the ball or a bus number.
