Purse, Christmas Gifts Taken in Separate Incidents

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety investigated two reports of thefts from automobiles in the past week, reports said.

The first incident was reported on Dec. 21 in the 400 block of East Long Lake Road by a vehicle owner that said the passenger side window to her 2000 silver Nissan was shattered about 12:15 p.m., according to reports. She told police she parked the vehicle in the office building parking lot about 11 a.m. and that a co-worker told her about the damage shortly after noon. A purse containing personal documents was missing.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Pembroke on Dec. 22 for a report of Christmas gifts stolen from a vehicle, reports said. The vehicle owner told police that he left some gifts valued at more than $100 inside his Chevy Tahoe  parked outside the residence the night before. He discovered them missing the following morning when he went to wrap them, and called police at about noon. There were no signs of forced entry.

The victim told police that someone stole the money from her checkbook between Sept. 2 and 4 and that there were no suspects. She did not give a reason for the delayed report, but said she wanted to have the incident documented with police. No further investigation is under way at this time, the report said.
