Police said they tried to speed away from a parking spot outside the Kmart at 2101 S. Telegraph Rd. as store security tried to confront Bell for shoplifting a television just before 5 p.m. July 3. According to reports, Bell left the television in a shopping cart and jumped into the vehicle, which began to back out with the passenger side door still open. The door struck a woman in the parking lot and knocked her to the ground.
She suffered a broken wrist and multiple bruises and abrasions, reports said, and was treated and released from a local hospital.

Officers responding to the scene located the suspect’s vehicle and arrested both women without incident a short time later. Neither was represented by attorneys at arraignment and public defenders were appointed.
Peeping Tom still on the loose
Authorities are still looking for information that may help identify a man that was seen peeping outside a woman’s bedroom window with a camera, reports said.
Officers responded to a residence in the 6900 block of Telegraph Road shortly after 3 a.m. June 27 and spoke with the victim, who said she was changing her clothes when she noticed a stranger holding up a camera to the window, reports said.
The suspect fled on foot when the victim walked toward the window. No contact was made. Officers searched the area, but could not locate a possible subject.
