Police Blotter: Unlocked Vehicles Targeted at Apartment Complex

Bloomfield Township police urge residents to keep their vehicles locked and to take their valuables indoors after multiple auto larcenies were reported over the weekend.
Five vehicles parked in the Whethersfield Apartments were broken into sometime overnight between Sept. 17 and 18, police reports aid. Personal items and stereo equipment were taken and entry was gained through unlocked doors. No suspect information was available.
An unlocked vehicle was also burglarized while parked in the driveway of a home in the 6600 block of Timber Ridge during that same time frame. A GPS unit was taken. It is unclear if the two incidents are related

Other ongoing investigations
- Home invasion, 1300 block of Bramble Bush Run. Entry through open garage and set of Taylor Made golf clubs were taken sometime between Sept. 10 and 17.
- Larceny, L.A. Fitness. A purse was stolen from a locker after the lock was cut off between 4 and 5 p.m. Sept.11.
- Attempted Larceny, Sacred Heart Academy, 1250 Kensington. W window as broken out of a vehicle parked in a campus lot on Sept. 12. Nothing was reported stolen.
Bloomfield Hills
Vehicle keyed, damaged by unknown suspect
A woman reported her car was keyed while parked in Bloomfield Hills last week, police reports said.

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to the 1000 block of East Long Lake Road for a report of malicious destruction of property at about 5 p.m. Sept. 16. The woman told them she parked her 2008 silver Pontiac Grand Prix outside the building at about 9 a.m., and that when she returned at about 4:45 p.m. she noticed someone had keyed the car. Damage was estimated at $400, police reports said.
A report was filed for insurance purposes and no suspect description was available.
