Police: Home Invasion and Another LA Fitness Theft Reported

Home Invasion

A homeowner in the 700 block of Westbourne Drive returned home and discovered a break-in shortly after 5 p.m. on July 24, police reports said. Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department determined entry was gained through an unlocked garage door. The suspect then entered the house through another unlocked door, reports said. Several pieces of jewelry and silver flatware were taken. No suspect information was available.

Another Locker Larceny at LA Fitness

Bloomfield Township police were called to the for reports of a locker theft on July 18. A patron told officers his iPhone was taken from an unlocked locker at about 4:15 p.m. No suspect information was available.

Officers were called to the business for , and remind people to lock their valuables at all times.

Identity Theft Reported

A resident in the 300 block of Overhill Road told police he was the victim of identity theft this week after he discovered a credit card was fraudulently opened in his name, reports said. The man told police the card was recently opened and used for a fraudulent purchase in Detroit. He discovered the card on July 21. Further details were not immediately available.

Theft from Auto

A man reported a radar detector was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot at about 2:30 p.m. on July 7. The vehicle windows were down at the time of the theft, reports said. No reason for the delayed report was given.

Bloomfield Hills

Officers with the arrested a man for prowling outside the city's Public Works Building, according to reports.

A dispatcher sent officers to the after seeing a man trying to open the doors via security cameras at about 12:40 a.m. on July 19.

The man was gone when officers arrived and there were no signs of damage or entry to the building, reports said. The officers checked the adjacent railroad tracks found an man walking south that matched the description of the person seen trying the doors. The man, later identified as Jeffrey Torrey from Pontiac, said he was looking for a place to urinate and tried the doors. He also indicated he was coming from the Kroger store at Maple Road and Woodward Avenue in Birmingham and was just heading home.

Officers arrested Torrey for prowling without incident. He was processed at the station, cited and released pending further court activity.
