Police: Men Tried to Steal Tires After Getting Flat in Bloomfield Township

Two Detroit men face larceny charges after they allegedly tried to replace a flat tire with wheels removed from cars in the Bloomfield Township Target parking lot, police said.

Antonio Bragg, 22, and Marcele Holt, 21, are each charged with counts of felony larceny stemming from the incident Tuesday, according the Bloomfield Township Police Department's Facebook page. The department started posting incident summaries exclusively on the page Thursday. 

Officers with the Bloomfield Township Police Department stopped the vehicle Brag and Holt were in on southbound Telegraph Road near Lone Pine Road after noticing it was driving without a tire, the summary stated. At about the same time, dispatchers received a call about a stolen tire and wheel from a customer's vehicle at Target.

Using the witness statements and video surveillance footage taken at Target, officers linked Bragg and Holt to the incident and arrested them.

Investigators determined that the men were driving through Bloomfield Township when a tire went flat, the summary stated. They allegedly tried to steal tires from two different vehicles, but the tires didn't fit. They then gave up and decided to make it home on just the wheel itself.

Bragg remained at the Oakland County Jail Thursday on $100,000 cash bond on this case. Records indicate the Michigan Department of Corrections also has a detention order for Bragg regarding prior convictions, which include a plea agreement earlier this year on a charge of retail fraud first-degree in Wayne County. Bragg was sentenced to two years probation in February.

Holt is also detained on a retail fraud-third degree charge pending in 46th District Court in Southfield, records show. Bond was set at $3,000 on that charge.
