Police: Thefts Reported at LA Fitness; Pool Furniture Damaged, Stolen

Following are highlights from recent police reports:

Bloomfield Township

LA Fitness Lockers Targeted

Bloomfield Township police are investigating multiple theft reports from the L.A. Fitness last week, reports said. The first incident was reported on July 14 when a gym patron reported several clothing items were taken from an unlocked locker sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Officers returned to the fitness center the following day when a patron reported that his iPhone was stolen from a locker that may or may not have been locked, reports said. The theft occurred sometime between 6:30 and 7:50 p.m. No suspect information was available in either incident.

Officers investigated and remind people to lock their valuables.

Thieves Take, Damage Outdoor Furniture

Several lounge chairs were taken and others were damaged from the pool area at the South Hills Condominiums in Bloomfield Township, police reports said. A resident and member of the homeowner's association called 9-1-1 on July 16 after discovering several chairs and pieces of outdoor furniture were thrown into the pool sometime overnight. Other furniture was reported missing and believed to be stolen during the same incident. The estimated damage is about $1,750, reports said. No suspect information was available.

Jewelry Stolen in Burglary

A resident in the 2500 block of Lahser Road returned home on July 14 and found the back door pried open, police reports said. More than $11,000 worth of jewelry, home electronics and cash were taken. The break-in occurred sometime between 7 p.m. and midnight. No suspect information was available.

Crooks Trying to Stay Cool

Apparently, thieves were trying to keep cool during the recent heat wave and stole an air conditioning unit from a vacant Bloomfield Township home, police  said. Officers responded to the 1600 block of West Square Lake Road on July 14 to take a report of the stolen unit attached to a home that is foreclosed, according to reports. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between July 1 and July 14. No suspect information was available.
