Police: Update in Andover Road Construction Theft

Bloomfield Township police said the front-loader taken not far from police headquarters was found in Detroit.

 

officers continue to investigate the theft of more than $42,000 worth of equipment from the Andover Road construction site near police headquarters.

A Bobcat front-loader taken from the site near the intersection of Andover and Exeter roads last month was recovered in Detroit earlier this week, Sgt. Kurtis Dudek said. The steel front bucket was missing and no one was around when it was found, Dudek said.

The Bobcat and trailer

Surveillance footage from nearby township facilities show a suspicious, dark-colored Ford Super Duty pickup truck leaving the scene towing a non-descript trailer and Bobcat front loader from the construction site at about 7:30 p.m. July 13, police reports said.

The items were collectively valued at more than $42,000.

Construction continues on the roadway, which was closed from Exeter to Telegraph Road in mid-June for reconstruction. The road also leads to Andover High School and should be finished by the end of August, officials said.
