Police: Vandalism at East Hills Middle School; Home Invasions Reported

Graffiti Reported on School Doors

Bloomfield Township police officers are investigating a vandalism report from filed this week. Staff at the school, located at 2800 Kensington Rd., called after discovering that two service doors on the side the building were spray painted, reports said. The time-frame for the vandalism remains undetermined.

Sgt. Kurtis Dudek said the graffiti consisted of misspelled profanity. The building is undergoing extensive renovations and the doors will be replaced. No suspect information was available.

Attempted Fraud

A woman tried to cash a bogus check at a Bloomfield Township bank branch this week, according to police reports. Officers were called to the Comerica Bank at 3190 Telegraph Rd. at 2:40 p.m. July 30 when a bank teller became suspicious of the fraudulent check, reports said. While the employee tried to verify the check's authenticity, the woman fled, leaving behind the check and a Michigan ID card. She was seen fleeing in a blue, 1990s model SUV.

Home Invasions

• 6900 block of Sandalwood Drive: Officers were called by a resident who discovered a pane of glass within a locked door at the rear of the home was broken out on July 28, reports said. Jewelry, cash, electronics and a small safe were taken sometime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. that day. No suspect information was available.
• 200 block of Cranbrook Cross Road: A resident reported that a Trek mountain bike was taken from his garage on July 31. The man told police he inadvertently left the garage door open overnight and took the bike, valued at more than $2,300, reports said. No suspect information was available.

Larcenies

• 6100 block of Pawtucket Lane: A resident of the Whethersfield Apartments told police that someone stole two of his bicycles from the parking area on July 31, reports said. The man said the bicycles were chained to a carport inside the complex and were taken between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. No suspect description, or description of the bikes, valued at $200, were available.
• 36600 Woodward Ave.: A fog lamp was removed and stolen from a vehicle parked at the on July 29, reports said. The lamp, valued at $200 was taken from a 2008 Mercedes parked in front of the dealership sometime the previous night. No suspect information was available.
