Sander Levin Launches Student Inaugural Address Competition

U.S. Rep. Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak) will launch his district's Student Inaugural Address Competition during a visit to Groves High School in Beverly Hills Wednesday.

Levin, who now represents Bloomfield Township and Beverly Hills as part of Michigan's 9th Congressional District, is scheduled to visit an AP Government class at the Birmingham Public School to kickoff the competition, a news release stated.

Students throughout the 9th congressional district are invited to submit, via video, their own two-three minute inaugural address explaining their vision for the country's future. Starting Thursday, students will be able to submit their videos to Levin's website, www.levin.house.gov. More details about the competition will be released soon.

The submissions will be judged by a panel of local residents and the winner will be announced during the week of Jan. 28. President Barack Obama will give his second inaugural address on Jan. 21 after he's officially sworn in for a second term.

Bloomfield Township was in the 9th District before the boundaries were redrawn, but it now includes Royal Oak, Berkley, Huntington Woods, Southfield Township and Beverly Hills.
