Second Burglary by Rooftop AC System Reported in Bloomfield Township
Investigators are trying to connect an incident over Labor Day weekend with a similar crime from Aug. 26.
Bloomfield Township police are investigating a second business burglary where the suspect or suspects used a rooftop air conditioning system to gain entry in as many weeks.
Officers responded to Miracle Ear, at 1944 Telegraph Rd., Tuesday morning after employees reported the business was burglarized when they arrived at about 8:45 a.m., Lt. Phil Langmeyer said.
Cash was taken from the register. Investigators determined the burglar or burglars crawled through the rooftop air conditioning system to get inside the building when the business was closed. The theft occurred sometime over the Labor Day weekend after the store closed on Sept. 2. No suspect descriptions were available and police are looking for any connection to a similar incident in a different strip mall.

Police reports said the suspect or suspects entered a vacant store attached to the business through a rooftop air conditioning unit and punched through a wall to gain access to the studio and photo services business. Several hundred dollars were missing from the cash register, reports said.
There are businesses on both sides of Miracle Ear but neither were entered illegally.
“We’re looking into everything that we have but we’re just not sure they are connected at this point,” Langmeyer said.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the investigations division at 248-433-7752.
