Water Main Removed From Office Building; Locker Theft at LA Fitness

A copper water main was stolen off of an office building on Bloomfield Township's north side last week, police reports said.

The property manager of the North Hills Professional Building at 44038 Woodward Ave. discovered the water main missing from the exterior of the building on the morning of March 1, reports from the Bloomfield Township Police Department stated. The part was a component of the building's sprinkler system, and the damage was valued at about $6000.
Investigators said the water main was cut or sawed off sometime between Feb. 22 and March 1. No suspect information was available.

- A man's coat and sweatshirt were stolen from an unlocked locker at LA Fitness on Feb. 28, police reports said. No suspect information was available. The missing items were valued at $200.
- A customer at the FedEx Office store reported that she accidentally left her credit card in a copy machine on March 6. She returned after realizing it was missing the same day, but the card was gone, reports said. The victim's credit card company indicated the card was used in Waterford. Police continue to investigate.
- A resident in the 6000 block of Sunningdale reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took his laptop sometime between March 1 and March 4, reports said. Police confirmed there were no signs of forced entry. The laptop was valued at $400.
