Winter Property Taxes Due on Valentine's Day in Bloomfield
Pay your bill without interest penalties and learn what to do if you're delinquent on your payments at a free seminar Wednesday.

Mid-February is a time for love, appreciation . . . and taxes.
Winter taxes are due Thursday (Valentine's Day) in both Bloomfield Township and Bloomfield Hills, and payments must be received by the end of business hours to avoid additional charges. Postmarks are not accepted.

There are several convenient ways to pay. Visit the treasurer's section of the township website for details on how to pay online, by phone or credit card. A dropbox is available at Bloomfield Township Hall during regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
If you are having trouble making your tax payments, Bloomfield Township Treasurer Dan Devine said call him immediately at 248-433-7704 to start working on the problem. Any tax payments that are not received on a property by Feb. 28 go the the county treasurer for collections, and the fines are steep.

"If people know they are going to be late they should call our office to see if there's anything we can do, because anything after Feb. 28, and the fines and fees are significant," he said. "It's like paying good money after bad at that point."
Bloomfield Hills
Residents of Bloomfield Hills face the same deadline for submitting their winter tax payments today as well. Statements were mailed on Nov. 29, and anyone that did not receive one should call 248-530-1402.
Like the township, all unpaid property taxes are turned over to the county on March 1. Taxes can be paid online or by telephone, according to the city's website Please visit www.paylocaltaxes.com to pay over the Internet with Visa, Discover, Mastercard, or by E-Check. Enter your Parcel I.D. number or your property address and enter your code number and tax type (summer or winter). The information is on the tax bill. Please note the website provides details of fees assessed for the payment service. To pay by telephone, please call 1-888-600-3773 and follow instructions.
Payments will be accepted at City Hall during regular business hours, and a decorative box is also located in the lobby of the Public Safety Department, which is open 24 hours.
All payment arrangements after March 1 must be made by contacting the Oakland County Treasurer's Office at (248) 858-0611.

Homeowners in Oakland County that are delinquent in their tax payments are invited to participate in a free workshop from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday night at the Oakland County Executive Office Building at 2100 Pontiac Lake Rd. in Waterford.
Participants will receive information on payment options, how to apply for support under the Step Forward Michigan programs, and meet with housing counselors certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Michigan State Housing Department Authority.
