• Commemorative bricks being sold to support new Salute the Troops Playground in Bridgman (wirx.com) — Bridgman residents can now buy commemorative bricks to help fund the new Salute the Troops Playground planned at the American Legion property, honoring military service while giving kids a major new play space. Fundraising has already reached about $180,000, the goal has increased to $450,000 to add features like a Navy ship and rocket, and construction is hoped to begin in spring 2027.

• John W Gast Memorial Trail Ribbon Cutting (lake-township.org) — A new non-motorized trail now links Lake Township Park directly with Bridgman High School and the City of Bridgman, giving residents a safer way to walk, run, and bike. Named for former Supervisor John Gast, the 1.2-mile route also highlights Lake Township Park’s many amenities and reflects the township’s push for more connected, family-friendly outdoor spaces.

• Berrien County Drain Commissioner reducing costs (wsjm.com) — Berrien County’s drain commissioner reports major cost cuts, much of it tied to resolving past legal and engineering expenses from unpermitted work in Bridgman’s Tanner Creek near Weko Beach. With that lawsuit settled and compliance restored with state regulators, the office is spending less overall, even as it prepares for new projects and future equipment needs.
