Knitters of All Levels Welcomed at Ewe-Nique Yarns
Local knitting store offers a variety of yarn and plenty of class options for knitters of all skill levels.
From sweaters to scarves, purses to hats, Ewe-Nique Yarns, located at 9912 E. Grand River in Brighton, has a variety of yarn to choose from for any handmade project.
The local knitting store doesn’t stop at just providing the materials, however. With a range of classes to choose from, Ewe-Nique Yarns provides a learning environment as well all the way from advanced to beginner.
Learning confidence in the technique is important, according to storeowner Sheri Giamba, which is why beginners or returning knitters start with a blanket as their first project.

“It can be a baby blanket or a lap blanket depending on the color,” she said. “But by the time you’re done with it, you’re going to be knitting and purling confidently. If you pick a scarf, you’re mostly going be to knitting not purling so much and you aren’t as capable at the end of it.”
Depending on the level of skill a customer comes in with, their first project could take anywhere from one to three weeks but Giamba said that after completion, her customers will have the technique and confidence to move to more advanced projects.

Offering thousands of different colors and fabrics, Giamba said wool and wool blends tend to be their most popular fiber due to the Michigan location, but there are many factors customers consider when choosing a yarn for a project.
“There’s how thick a yarn is, how heavy to how skinny or chunk-like rope yarn,” she said. “And then there’s color and how the color is applied.”
Knitting classes and open knit hours are offered at the store’s location Monday through Saturday. Customers must register 48 hours in advance. For more information, contact the Ewe-Nique Yarns at 810-229-5579.
All materials must also be purchased at the store’s location, according to the website.
