• Local communities receive first Neighborhood Roads Fund payments (cadillacnews.com) — Cadillac is receiving $130,625 in its first Neighborhood Roads Fund payment, split between major and local streets, as part of Michigan's new long-term transportation plan. Wexford County and nearby communities are also getting sizable allocations, which local road officials say will help but are still being evaluated for their full impact on upcoming projects.
   

• World fish decoy carving championship begins today in Cadillac (cadillacnews.com) — Cadillac is hosting the World Fish Decoy Carving Championship starting today at the Days Inn on East M-115, with trading, contests, and a collectors show running through Saturday. Residents can browse room-to-room decoy trading, watch decoys tested in a water pool, and buy or trade carvings, lures, and other fishing collectibles throughout the weekend.
   

• Fourth mural finished in alleyway, community mosaic coming soon (cadillacnews.com) — Downtown Cadillac's alley west of the post office is gaining colorful new murals, and residents are invited to help complete a community mosaic. On Oct. 3, a free tile-painting party at the Market at Cadillac Commons will let locals, especially seniors, paint tiles that become part of a permanent "unity tree" artwork downtown.
