$11,000 Reward Offered in Case of Serial Bank Robber Targeting Southeast Michigan

Police believe the suspect has robbed at least three banks in Dearborn alone.

Law enforcement authorities are offering an $11,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a serial bank robber who has targeted banks in several southeast Michigan.

Details will be announced at a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dearborn Police Department, 16099 Michigan Ave. The reward is being offered by the police department and Crime Stoppers of Michigan.

“Our investigation is ongoing and we believe assistance from the community will be crucial in making an arrest of this serial bank robber,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement.

Authorities think the suspect’s alleged crime spree began May 31 at a Charter One bank branch at 23801 Michigan Ave. The suspect entered the bank, approached the teller and implied that he was armed while demanding money, police said in a news release.

Since then, two additional banks in Dearborn have been robbed by the same subject: the Comerica Bank branch located at 13335 Warren Ave. on June 20 and and July 16, 2014 the Chase Bank branch located at 7301 Wyoming Ave. on July 16.

In all three incidents the suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and likely fled the area in an awaiting vehicle.

The suspect has been described as a black male in his 30s with ith a medium complexion. He is approximately 6 feet to 6 feet, 2 inches tall; has an average build; and weighs approximately 180 pounds. In several incidents,the suspect wore a baseball hat and sunglasses.
