allegedly tried to break into the Arab American News, located on Chase Road, just north of Ford Road, about 2 a.m. on March 11.

Surveillance video showed the suspects looking through the glass doors and windows of building on Chase Road, just north of Ford Road, about 2 a.m. on March 11 while members of the newspaper staff worked to meet the weekly deadline. Police said the workers were clearly visible.

One of the men was seen hitting the door with a hammer four times, damaging the glass.

At the time, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said the fact that the would-be intruders could clearly see the building was occupied by multiple people was one of the troubling aspects of the attempted break-in.

“What is particularly disturbing about this crime is that brazen suspects made violent efforts to gain entry into the building which was clearly occupied by newspaper staff,” he said.

The motive is unclear, police said.
