A $60 Taco? You'll Find It In Dearborn
By no means is this your kid's Taco Bell fare. And, you will want to take special notice of the crunch.

DEARBORN, MI – We all love a bit of swanky dining now and then, and the M Cantina in Dearborn certainly sounds like it fits the bill. According to a feature in the Detroit Free Press, the Mexican restaurant is certainly not your ordinary hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

His menu features a $60 taco – and it comes with caveats: You have to call ahead to order and you must order three (that's 3x$60=$180), according to the Free Press. But, darn, by the way the Free Press describes it, this thing sounds worthy:

The taco is a study in sumptuous ingredients: seared American Wagyu beef, a knob of Hudson Valley foie gras, pearls of Golden Osetra caviar and shaved black truffles. It's topped with leaves of the succulent ice plant and served with a side of Hawaiian salt, smoky chile morita sauce and roasted grasshoppers for crunch.
Hmmmm. Grasshoppers ... for crunch. Well, it still sounds pretty good, though you might flick the insects to the side.
It's all about the authenticity, according to Chef Merino. He tells the Free Press that in restaurants in New York and California, there is a push for "real Mexican food that is handcrafted and takes hours to cook." And, indeed, he says, the several hours of prep work goes into all that's on M Cantina's menu.
