ANNUAL GLASS SHOW WITH NOSTALGIC WALK DOWN 1940S WOODWARD AVENUE
Relive 1940's Woodward Ave. storefronts, such as Sander's Confections or SS Kresge's Dime Store, during the 42nd Annual Glass Show.
The Michigan Depression Glass Society will host their 42nd show and sale on November 1 and 2 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn. The show will feature nearly two-dozen dealers from across the country selling all American-made glassware from the early 1900s into the 1960s.
In addition to shopping dealer booths, attendees will also be able to walk down “memory lane” on a 1940s Woodward Avenue, glimpsing at displays of glass that recreate windows of popular Detroit shops - JL Hudson’s department store, SS Kresge’s dime store, Sander’s confections, Vernors soda fountain and Woolworth’s five-and-dime.
The popular Detroit storefront displays will give a glimpse of what similar window displays of the era would have featured from U.S. glassware manufacturers.

Often referred to as “Depression Glass” due to much of the colorful glassware being produced throughout the Great Depression era, the show also includes elegant glass, kitchenware, as well as early American pattern glassware (EAPG). Well-known manufacturers including Fostoria, Heisey, Cambridge, Fenton, Imperial, Paden City, Anchor Hocking, Pyrex, Federal, Hazel Atlas, Westmoreland, Jeannette, MacBeth-Evans and many more will fill aisle after aisle of stunning glassware.
The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center is located at 15801 Michigan Ave. (US 12) at Greenfield Road. The event is on Saturday, November 1 from 10a.m. to 5p.m. and Sunday, November 2 from 10a.m. to 4p.m.

A donation of $5 is good for both days and parking is free. Glass repair will also be available; strollers are not permitted for safety reasons.

The Michigan Depression Glass Society is a not-for-profit organization. Founded in 1972, the collector’s club has continued its tradition of hosting and annual show as well as informative monthly meetings where anyone can learn more about this beautiful glassware.
