Diary of a Democratic Delegate - Kudos to the Voters!

Voters got it right Tuesday,  sorting through the political fog and making wise choices in a number of key races. - - - They picked some really good people, like Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Congressman John Dingell, to run for new terms. - - - They guaranteed the future of the DIA by creating a new revenue stream. - - - They sorted out a really difficult situation that I feel will lead to the election of Oakwood's Dr. Syed Taj  as our neighboring congressman, in the process rejecting a phony D and a goofy R write-in bid. (Real wisdom!). - - - They opted for regional-oriented Congressman Gary Peters over other choices. - - - They didn't get distracted by the problems in Wayne County, approving a jail millage renewal and opting to re-nominate our own county commission chair Gary Woronchak. - - - They picked the best nominees for the fall Dearborn district court race, Judge Richard Wygonik (my choice) and Sam Salamey. - - - They launched the career of a truly outstanding young candidate, David Knezek, of Dearborn Heights, who will join our own George Darany in the State House in 2013. - - - They made the right choice of keeping our friend Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and they did the same by nominating Pam Faris, Sam Singh, Lon Johnson, Winnie Brinks, Jim Berryman,  Andy Schor for new house seats. It will be the best caucus in many years! - - - They nominated our pal Ken Ross for an open judgeship in Lansing, they returned such veteran public servants as John Conyers, Sandy Levin, Benny Napoleon, Andy Meisner, Rudy Hobbs, Jim Townsend, Tim Griemel, Martha Scott and my pal Alicia Bell. - - - In some cases, apparently our election officials did not get it right, though, opening polls late, asking improper questions of voters and in one case, mixing up ballots. Hopefully they'll be ready in November. - - -Those are my thoughts. What about yours?
