Let's Talk Law: My First Time

Dearborn lawyer James Jernigan want to talk law with the public.

So this is the blogosphere. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but I'm fired up nonetheless.

I am very happy that the editors of Dearborn Patch are allowing me to start a blog related to all things legal. I am an attorney with my office (and home) in Dearborn, so I have a vested interest in the legal community in and around Dearborn. I have been practicing law for 14 years in diverse areas, and have experience in many different courtrooms, so I generally know of which I speak.

I will try to address hot legal topics, areas of interest, maybe some cases that are pending in our community, and generally try to de-mystify the legal profession. Hopefully people read the blog and find it interesting and/or helpful. After all, if there is one thing that lawyers like more than the sound of their own voices, it's their own written prose. And if there is one thing that lawyers like more than their own written prose, it's other people reading their dynamic and thought-provoking prose.

The justice system is what it is: an imperfect process that, at its best, can only attempt to be perfect. Perfection will never (or very rarely, at least) be attained, however, because the justice system is devised, managed, and run by human beings who are, by their very nature, imperfect. That being said, it generally makes sense (even though you might not think so at first blush), it should not be mysterious, and it should be accessible to everyone.

Let's discuss the law. If you have questions, let's get them out in the open  No such thing as a stupid question, and if you're wondering about it, someone else is, too. Guaranteed.
