Live from the Republican National Convention: Final Day

Today was the frosting on the cake of an absolutely spectacular trip to the RNC.

In the morning we heard from local elected Florida officials, and gained insight to their grassroots campaign.

In the afternoon we had a consulting firm head talk us about polling data. The funny story here was I asked him a question about why there has been such large disparity in polls between Republicans and Democrats, and he seemed scandalized that I could ask such a thing and I got quite the circular answer. Oh well–you win some, you lose some.

The highlight of today, of course, were the closing convention ceremonies. It was clear that defining Romney would be the major focus. My Democratic counterpart Mr. Hoffman referred too Mitt as malleable, but I found the definition the Republicans put forward to be extremely effective. Through friends, staff, and Olympians we were told of a hardworking, compassionate man who would do anything for a friend. It didn't seem at all like a stretched story, and all the speakers were beyond credible.

Mitt Romney's speech gave us more of an insight into his parents and life as a working father. After this he methodically assaulted Obama on a variety of issues while bringing forth his alternative. It was a great speech that had the crowd in high energy. It was magical for me at the end to see the families with all their children take center stage as balloons fell onto the stage to cap off a spectacular night and convention.
