Recipes for a Healthy You That Don't Involve Cooking: It Is What It Is

How does one person overcome so many issues and others just curl up and their whole world stops? Learn how to be the one that overcomes the obstacles in life!

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely hate to cook! I have a plaque in my kitchen that says, "I have a kitchen because it came with the house."

What people don't realize is that I'm actually a very good cook. Just because I don't like to cook, doesn't mean I don't know HOW to cook! Life is funny that way ... we do things we don't LIKE to do all the time! The key isn't getting out of doing it; the key is learning HOW to deal with it and how to make the best of it.

My favorite quote is, "It is what it is!"

Think about it: It is what it is. That is one thing we don't have control over. The fact that whatever it is, IT IS! How do you handle things that are what they are and you have no control over them? Well, I'm one of those people who likes to have control over anything that happens to me. I don't wait for things to just happen, I MAKE them happen! I go out and make things work. I find ways to get what I want. I don't sit around and wait for life to happen to me.

The question is ... how did I get here? How did I become someone who learned how to handle things as they came flying at her as life always seems to do?

It doesn't happen overnight! Trust me on that one. I've experienced more than I ever wanted to. But because of all of my life lessons, I have turned into ME. Someone I would not be if I hadn't experienced each and every life lesson that was handed to me. I wouldn't change anything about my life and how I lived it. NOW, I just change the way I think about my life and what I think about where I'm going and how I'm getting there.

In this blog, you'll learn how to embrace what life throws at you and how to handle it in a positive way. Believe it or not, there is always a positive outlook in everything–whether you can see it yet or not.

Sometimes, those positive things we get out of our experiences don't show up until later. For example, you have a friend who all of a sudden isn't your friend and won't talk to you. You can't figure out what you did to lose that person from your life. Then one day you see it clearly that they were meant to be in your life to teach you how to handle something else that came up later in your life.

Here is what happened to me to give you a better understanding ...  I am a PartyLite consultant and have been for 13 years. My son was very young when I met this woman and she had a show for me. I ended up signing her up as a consultant on my team and she just happened to have epilepsy. I learned how to handle her seizures when she'd have them and also learned about VNS and what it was and what triggers were and what set her off into seizures.

When my son turned two, a few months later he started having seizures. He was born having had a stroke in-utero and the doctors told us that he could have seizures later in life. He had his first seizure in December of 2001 and had his second one in January of 2002. He didn't have them under control until May of 2003. Then in June of 2006 he popped off another seizure and again in October. The last seizure he had was on Oct. 15, 2006.

However, that consultant is no longer in my life or on my team. I don't even know where she is, actually, and sadly that's a shame. However, she was meant to be in my life to teach me something I wouldn't have known had I not met her. There's the reason that I didn't know was the reason why she was in my life to begin with until my son started having seizures.

I'm going to give you something to think about, and as you continue to read my blog entries, you'll notice that when things happen to me, I try to use this as my way of dealing with everything. You'll notice I'll bring this up over and over again.

Whatever event (or situation) happens to you, how you react to it will determine your outcome! Yes I read motivational books!

This came from my leader in PartyLite who took it from a motivational speaker and his book but now I couldn't tell you who it was. But the thing is that it actually works! The way you react to a situation will determine what's going to happen or how the other party you are dealing with is going to react to you! Your child spills Kool Aid all over the carpet ... you yell and scream at them and then they cry. OR your child spills Kool Aid and you hurry up, get the Oxyclean and clean it up and tell your child that's it's all good, you cleaned it up ... child doesn't freak out and cry. Now of course, if they keep it up, you teach them how to clean it up!

When bad things happen to you, reacting a different way will truly change your outcome! So, with that I hope you'll look for another post on how to become healthy without cooking!
