The June Post

Flowers and, maybe, a pumpkin.

So, I've been kind of neglecting the blog here for various reasons for the month of June. I haven't been neglecting the garden though! So, I've thrown up a bunch of photos here from the Month of June. The new gardener's bed looks great with a bunch of lettuce and she recently harvested her first crop of radishes. The corn is slowly getting talller; about 3 feet now. Tomatoes are starting to grow and a bunch of flowers have opened up, including sunflowers. The most impressive plant though is the pumpkin vine growing out of the 'tire pot' that is filled with donated compost; thanks Becki!!! Compost really works. A female pumpkin flower opened yesterday. I saw a lot of bees around it and I'm hoping that it got fertilized; I tried to get pollen from the male flowers that were simultaneously open but they seem to have been 'tapped out' of pollen. I'm really hoping that it starts to grow (more updates on that). Other than that, the strawberries are done producing and I've taken down the bird netting; I'm always surprised that the neighborhood bunnies don't bother the garden too much.

Happy Independence Day!!!
