Dearborn Teen Dies In Car Crash, Police Look For Witnesses

A 17-year-old died after striking a support cable for traffic signals and then a tree in Dearborn Monday morning.

DEARBORN, MI — A teen is dead after a car crash that took place just after 1 a.m. Monday and police are trying to put together the pieces to see why he violently veered off the roadway. According to police, a 17-year-old Dearborn resident was driving a 2005 Nissan Maxima Greenfield at Hubbard when he veered off, struck a support cable for traffic signals and then struck a tree before coming to a rest on the median.

The young man, who has not been identified, was the only occupant in the car at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was reportedly a senior at Fordson High School. No other vehicles were involved.

Police are investigating the incident and say so far that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
