East Coast Blizzard Causing Travel Nightmares in Detroit: VIDEO
Metro Detroit isn't getting snow from the massive storm, but good luck if you're planning to fly east into the massive winter storm's path.

ROMULUS, MI — Metro Detroit will escape the wrath of a massive winter storm expected to cripple parts of the Eastern seaboard, but flight cancellations are piling up at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and other airports across the country.
More than 75 flights to and from areas expected to be affected by Winter Storm Jonas had been cancelled Friday morning, according to the flight tracker website FlightStats.com.

Blizzard watches are in effect in Virginia, along with parts of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,Maryland and Delaware. More than 15 states are expected to get heavy snowfall as a result of the storm.
Nationally, airlines have cancelled more than 3,000 flights, USA TODAY reported. American Airlines said its entire flight schedule would be suspended at Philadelphia, Washington National, Baltimore/Washington and Washington Dulles on Saturday.

The Metro Detroit forecast calls for isolated flurries Friday with a high near 26, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday figures to be mostly sunny with a high near 30, and Sunday should be partly sunny with a high near 33. The first chance of snow in the forecast is Monday, when the are could see rain and snow showers.
