Dearborn Police Release More Details In Shooting That Injured 2 Officers (patch.com) — Dearborn residents are learning more about a violent overnight confrontation in which two undercover city officers were shot while trying to arrest an armed man who fled from the Pantheon Club. The officers and suspect exchanged gunfire at a gas station near Inkster and Van Born roads, leaving the suspect critically injured and both officers recovering at home with non-life-threatening wounds. Police Chief Issa Shahin praised the officers' actions and said investigators are reviewing video and witness statements.
   

2. Dearborn acquires Fordson Island property from State Land Bank (downriversundaytimes.com) — Dearborn has formally approved acquiring nearly one acre of Fordson Island property from the State Land Bank for $1, strengthening the city's control over this Rouge River site. The move positions Dearborn to pursue environmental cleanup, habitat restoration, and future public access or passive recreation. City officials will now seek state brownfield funding to assess and prepare the land.
   

3. Dearborn nonprofit LAHC opens $3M behavioral health and workforce development hub (wxyz.com) — A longtime Dearborn nonprofit has opened a new $3 million behavioral health and workforce development hub that will significantly expand services for local residents. The 6,500-square-foot facility offers career training, counseling, and ESL classes, and will host a Dearborn Public Schools special needs program. City, state, and county leaders say the expansion will help more residents enter the workforce and access vital support.
   

4. 3 Dearborn high school football players commit to college programs in July 2026 (westernwaynetoday.com) — Three Dearborn high school football standouts have committed to play at Princeton, Youngstown State, and Lafayette after strong summer recruiting. Divine Child's Giancarlo Vitti and Jack Bobin, along with Fordson's Tj Reaves, all announced their decisions in July. The commitments spotlight local talent moving from Dearborn programs to respected college football stages.
   

5. KKK Flyers Dropped In Dearborn Heights After Anti-Muslim Protest (wkfr.com) — Residents in Dearborn Heights and nearby Melvindale are dealing with KKK flyers scattered across neighborhoods following an anti-Muslim protest linked to activist Jake Lang's call to "go to Dearborn" and cause trouble. Local people with diverse families are speaking out strongly against the hate, while police investigate the flyer distribution and tensions around recent demonstrations.
