1 Dead, 1 Injured After Fiery I-96 Crash In Detroit: Police

A Redford Township man died and a woman was critically injured after a crash and car fire on a Detroit freeway Sunday evening, police said.

DETROIT— A Redford Township man died and a woman was critically injured after a crash and car fire on a Detroit freeway Sunday evening, Michigan State Police said.

Police said the crash happened at 6:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 96 near Livernois Avenue. Officials found the car on fire and were able to put the blaze out.

A 54-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman were both found critically injured inside the car and taken to Henry Ford Hospital, where the man died, police said. Both are from Redford Township, officials said.

Officials notified the family and are still investigating the crash.
