1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Downtown Detroit Hit-And-Run Crash: Police

Police said a speeding driver fatally struck a man near Martin Luther King Boulevard before crashing in front of the Little Caesars Arena​.

DETROIT — A man was killed and two others were injured in a Wednesday hit-and-run crash in Downtown Detroit, according to police.

A driver, whom police believe is in his 20s, was speeding in a black sedan on Woodward Avenue at 5 p.m. when he struck a 60-year-old man near Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to police.

The driver in the black sedan sped away from the scene and quickly rear-ended another car near Interstate 75 and Woodward Avenue in front of Little Caesars Arena, according to police.

The 60-year-old man, who was walking near Martin Luther King Boulevard was killed in the crash, according to police.

The driver (whom police believe is in his 30s) of the car that was rear-ended and the suspected driver were injured in the crash near LCA and were taken to nearby hospitals where they are expected to survive, according to police.

The suspected driver in the black sedan was arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-crash and the crash near LCA, according to police.

Police do not know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Police were still investigating the crashes.
