Officials said two women jumped into the river to try and save their friend who slipped and fell into the water. They were able to save her, but one of the women who jumped in did not make it out of the water, officials said.

Officials were unsure why the women were in the park, which was closed at the time the women were found in the water. Police blocked access to the park for several hours while officials were investigating the scene.
