Sleeping 4-Year-Old Detroit Boy Wounded In Overnight Shooting: Police

Police said the child was in critical condition after someone fired shots from a high-powered assault rifle into the home.

DETROIT — A 4-year-old boy was in critical condition after he was shot in the buttocks Wednesday morning while sleeping in his Detroit home, police said.

The child was struck by gunfire at 3 a.m. in the 18400 block of Stout Street in the area of 7 Mile and Evergreen roads, police said.

Police were unsure if the shooting was a drive-by, but said someone fired rounds from a high-powered assault rifle into the home, striking the child, police said.
