6 Injured After Oakland Co. Police Chase Ends In Detroit Crash: Cops

Officials said the suspect was in violation of parole for second-degree murder and possession of cocaine.

DETROIT — Six people were injured in a Monday afternoon crash after a police chase that started in Oakland County, according to police.

Officers tried stopping a car that was driven by a parole violator at roughly 5:30 p.m. at 12 Mile Road and Northwestern Highway in Southfield, according to police.

The driver sped away from officers who then chased the car into Detroit, according to police.

The chase ended after the fleeing car crashed into another vehicle at W. Outer Drive and James Couzens Freeway in Detroit after running a red light, according to police.

The vehicle the car crashed into was an Uber that was carrying a woman passenger who was ejected in the crash, according to police.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition, according to police.

Five other people were also injured in the crash, including the driver and two other passengers in the fleeing car, according to police.

They, along with two other people were listed in serious condition at nearby hospitals, according to police.

A sixth person was also injured in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital where their condition was unknown, according to police.

Officials said the suspect was in violation of parole for second-degree murder and possession of cocaine, and is expected to face more charges in connection with the chase and crash, according to police.
